About Us

Senior Spokane is the result of one woman’s quest to transition creatively into a new life chapter. Molly McClelland, a Spokane native,  provided marketing and advertising assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs for over 25 years as the owner of McClelland and Associates. Prior to that she enjoyed successful careers in the hospitality and retail industries.  Work was always at the center of her life.

Like so many other baby boomers and seniors, McClelland’s carefully laid plans for the future were suddenly derailed by a health crisis that caused her to cut back drastically on consulting. Once she recovered, she found that she had time and energy to spare, so was soon in front of the computer looking for inspiration.

Senior Spokane was born from frustration at trying to find one website that specifically addressed her needs and interests as she reinvented her life. Our goal is to create a site that combines news, information, resources, and inspiration relevant to our journeys as we find our “new normals”. Senior Spokane will always be a work in progress, and suggestions are much appreciated.

Today Molly is busy enjoying friends and family, work on small consulting projects and Senior Spokane, and exploring our beautiful Pacific Northwest.  Life is good and keeps getting better!

Just heard about this site. I can’t be a boomer because I was born in 1944, but I think I qualify as a senior. I, also, play accordion, piano, and harmonica, and heard that the first instrument, is popular, with seniors, if that’s true?

What is the age range for baby boomers? I have never been sure. I’m 54 – maybe I am neither a boomer nor a senior. But I want to retire next year, so lots of this information fits for me.

Hi Melissa! A baby boomer is officially defined as someone born between 1946 and 1964, so it looks as though you qualify. Not that you need to – I’m glad you dropped by and hope you return often!

Thank you so much, Joyce, for finding the site and for the kind words. I have so enjoyed our emails, and do hope that we can meet in person one of these days. You inspire me, actually – you’ve been through so much in the last six months, and managed to keep your sanity and sense of humor. Yay, you!
